Heading off again..

The long break has arrived again and within a month I will head off once more into the unknown with the assistance of the many low cost carriers that now make travel affordable..although some say affordable for people not for the planet..what can I say except I try to offset my life as best I can, in as many ways as I can.
Before the big trip I am returning to North Bali with a group of 34 students to make a 'camp' adventure for them that includes learning about sustainable livelihoods and the methods of fishing and farming that support an island that relies on food farming to survive. In the south there are many places that can be described as 'paradise' the steps leading to the pool at the Four Seasons, Jimbaran is certainly one with its expansive view, but up in North Bali paradise isn't designed or landscaped; it just is.
On the camp we will be meeting up with people who are undertaking incredible ventures, the preservation of the coral reefs through scientific methods and electric currents, the farming of oysters without wasting resources and a school that offers their students an innovative world program of education. We will also visit a traditional village that is embracing eco-tourism in ways that are innovative, authentic and really very cool. The entire village opens its doors to visitors and shares their practice of traditional village life...more pictures will come.
