This morning I was able to connect to Sykpe and call Severen, it looked like a cold Melbourne morning. The government has given her a scholarship for books and she is happy at the prospect of the new semester and enjoying having her sister in town. It was great to have a chat...seeing her on the screen was a lovely start to the day..Yeah Zaba! And this one is Bella on the beach..I am so proud of my girls! Well done on your IB results Bella, I am very happy for you that all your work paid off, all that study and stress and of course your efforts at maintaining a balanced life style throughout, well done indeed!

Bahamania - days of luxury and leisure

My journey to the Bahamas was incredible, the location is stunning, there's no rubbish on the beach, and while the underwater environment, although clean, seems a little devoid of life it seems the resort does good things to encourage growth and minimize harm..People are friendly, I found out there were original inhabitants but they were taken by the Spanish to be slaves elsewhere and then the British left Africans freed after the abolition of slavery to live in The Bahamas as free men and women. There are words like Goombay and Jankanoo that are Bahamanian and refer to festivals but are also the names of drinks and corn chips...

Tripping Along

After I left LA I flew to Washington and met up with my friend Bekah and together we flew to Orlando, Florida where I spent a great night with her mum and her mum's husband George. We went to the beach, Bekah ran and I sat on the beach with George who was very interesting, and gave me some ideas about direction. Being in the midst of such a dynamic interesting family was fantastic after my LA Alone Time. The next day I went back to Orlando and flew to Nassau in the Bahamas...and entered another dynamic family, the one of Hannah, Jasmine and their mum, Re. The beginning of my Bahamas vacation...the challenge now is to have, to take, to enforce myself into vacation mode..what is that?? I am used to exploring, to seeking out, to engaging with people around me. Fortunately I am here to help Hannah make a documentary on her work so I have been engaging with people and filming their responses to Hannah's performances both in and out of the water and that has been great..the effect of

Kayti: Today you will find me in the remote yet significant community of Yirrkala in North East Arnhemland, Northern Territory. I started teaching here in 2020 and due to the pandemic and a serious accident in January 2022 I have not been overseas. I opted to spend this school break not travelling at all, both girls are travelling, Kepsi in the UK and Severen after a visit here is in Bali, they are the ones tripping out alone this year. Both will be in Uni next term with Kepsi continuing her Arts study at RMIT and Severen beginning a Masters of Education, while teaching in Melbourne. Between August 2018 and January 2020 I was working in Tennant Creek and maintained my travel in and outside Australia. Prior to August 2018 I was living and working in Bali, Indonesia, my two daughters had graduated from High School on Bali and are now pursuing their independent lives in Melbourne which had left me free do to the same. I have a passion for travel, for community activism and the environment,
