DAY TWO:
A morning spent recovering from the noisy Russians..who got up early and ate breakfast in the hallway..Nice hotel has given me a late check out as compensation for being so very very disturbed, so I tripped around the local market, ate a steamed bun, drank Chinese tea and took a second blind massage, this time I took the foot reflexology treatment, also excellent.
Watched Bella's plane land on super radar site for Melbourne Airport, and got happy fb messages from her within the hour..cool, now they are both in Melbourne and I have..no real agenda..just a plane and train schedule..

NO PLANS....UNTIL I get a message on gmail chat , Geoff and B are in Ho Chi Minh and we can meet up tonight before they leave to Hue..love this techno-travel stuff..so much for my own company , theirs is also so much fun!
Having just come from Manila we can compare notes on Sonja's Cup Cake Cafe...

This morning I was able to connect to Sykpe and call Severen, it looked like a cold Melbourne morning. The government has given her a scholarship for books and she is happy at the prospect of the new semester and enjoying having her sister in town. It was great to have a chat...seeing her on the screen was a lovely start to the day..Yeah Zaba! And this one is Bella on the beach..I am so proud of my girls! Bahamania - days of luxury and leisure

My journey to the Bahamas was incredible, the location is stunning, there's no rubbish on the beach, and while the underwater environment, although clean, seems a little devoid of life it seems the resort does good things to encourage growth and minimize harm..People are friendly, I found out there were original inhabitants but they were taken by the Spanish to be slaves elsewhere and then the British left Africans freed after the abolition of slavery to live in The Bahamas as free men and women. There are words like Goombay and Jankanoo that are Bahamanian and refer to festivals but are also the names of drinks and corn chips...

June 2016 Cheating a bit.  I wrote this trip up for Gaia Discovery and have copied the piece here with some additions that are more personal: After an arduous and extended journey of delays, technical problems and missed connections I stumbled into a smoky Medan bar in the middle of Ramadan to be greeted with beer.
