The future is in Da Nang

Danang is like Jumeriah Beach, Dubai, five years ago, there are just buildings going up everywhere. From the Hyatt Regency to Le Meridian huge tracts of land along the pristine beach are squared away for development. The Crown Casino is already here, open to foreigners, as gambling is illegal in Vietnam.
I want to come back and see what happens, it looks like there will be a huge tourism boom here.

I had my tour with Da NangKids, and it was so much fun. Khahn picked me up from the station and took me straight to his friend's place where I left my bags. On his regular little bike we shot off to the beach through the main road traffic and drove out to the Marble Mountains. I had as much fun driving through the traffic of Da Nang as I did discovering the famous pagoda and climbing up one of the marble mountains. It was possibly a little ambitious to get off a train after seventeen hours and straight into a bike tour but nothing prepared me for what was to follow. After our tour Khahn wanted to give me a lift closer to Ba Na Hills where my hotel is located.

Getting caught in the rain on a Da Nang Street

Le Nim Hotel Ba Na Hills:
I booked this hotel through agoda, it's cheap and is described as out of town..It's out of this world.

I jumped off the bike and took a cab when it started to rain and the cab driver drove about thirty kilometers out of town on a lovely wide smooth road. When he pulled up I was a little confused, but he said I had to go to the 'station' and go up to Ba Na Hills that way. Out of his cab I was guided to a booth and then a cable car. The cable car journey went on and on and on..over hills, over gorges, over scenes that you see in Chinese Karaoke films.

Rushing waters cascaded over tree filled crevices and rock gorges before plummeting into rocks and rivers below!

Looking back to Da Nang and Hoi An, the islands and the sweep of bay that we are not allowed to call China Beach any longer, it was truly breathtaking, but at the same time I was very nervous..I think I did enough today..the train, the bike and the cable car...time for dinner and the Paraguay v Japan game.
