THE BLACK DZAO, THE HMONG AND I HAVE ARRANGED A PARTY..

There are just so many cool women here and they are all trying to sell stuff, it isn't expensive either, but they do insist, so I have suggested that we all meet tomorrow at seven to eight am in the park and I try to distribute as much as I can buying a little here and a little there. They think it is a good idea, and if the worst comes to the worst I'll buy them all food, they seemed quite happy with that this afternoon. These women are very interesting, they have enough English to converse with humor, they said I could be one of them, they liked my Burma bag and my Indian bracelet, one of them jokingly suggested I should go round the markets with them trying to sell the bag!

I think if I weren't so tall I might, they all have really amazing skin, their faces are smooth and they don't have many wrinkles.I think I might enjoy being a buffalo girl again..

This morning I was able to connect to Sykpe and call Severen, it looked like a cold Melbourne morning. The government has given her a scholarship for books and she is happy at the prospect of the new semester and enjoying having her sister in town. It was great to have a chat...seeing her on the screen was a lovely start to the day..Yeah Zaba! And this one is Bella on the beach..I am so proud of my girls! Bahamania - days of luxury and leisure

My journey to the Bahamas was incredible, the location is stunning, there's no rubbish on the beach, and while the underwater environment, although clean, seems a little devoid of life it seems the resort does good things to encourage growth and minimize harm..People are friendly, I found out there were original inhabitants but they were taken by the Spanish to be slaves elsewhere and then the British left Africans freed after the abolition of slavery to live in The Bahamas as free men and women. There are words like Goombay and Jankanoo that are Bahamanian and refer to festivals but are also the names of drinks and corn chips...

June 2016 Cheating a bit.  I wrote this trip up for Gaia Discovery and have copied the piece here with some additions that are more personal: After an arduous and extended journey of delays, technical problems and missed connections I stumbled into a smoky Medan bar in the middle of Ramadan to be greeted with beer.
